The New Archives Committee

Within Jernkontoret's Historical Metallurgy group, there is an archive group, The New Archives Committee, which works to preserve the steel industry's archives for the future and use them for research and other purposes. The committee arranges seminars and other activities.

The archives of the iron and steel industry are a rich treasure that needs to be taken care of and preserved for the future. Older archives are often well-preserved and reflect the companies' history from ancient times, but unfortunately the archive material of recent decades – often in digital form – has not been taken care of to the same extent. There is great potential for improvement in the area of secure long-term e-archives for digital documents. It must also be possible to write the history of the steel industry of the 21st century in the future.

Within Jernkontoret's Historical Metallurgy group, there is an archives group, The New Archives Committee, which works for focus on the steel industry's archives, to contribute to their preservation for the future and to ensure that they are used for research as well as for other purposes.

The purpose of the work is also to create a network for archivists and people interested in archives in the industry. The new archive committee also arranges seminars and other activities.

Chairman of the committee: Anders Nordebring
